The mission and purpose of this TLD is to expand consumer choice by providing a clear namespace associated with decentralized and digital identifiers. Registrants may include identity developers, service providers, organizations and users.
The applied-for gTLD is sustainable because digital identity and interoperable identifiers are increasingly important. The gTLD is not dependent on a single industry, technology, or business model and can accommodate evolving uses as technology and Internet activity develop.
Applicant designated Identity Digital as the RSP. Identity Digital enjoys a reputation of excellence as a domain name industry contributor and innovator. Applicant, along with Identity Digital’s team, will support this purpose through reliable registry operations, appropriate security and abuse-mitigation measures, transparent registration policies, and compliance with applicable ICANN requirements.
We are committed to the successful expansion of the Internet, the secure operation of the DNS, and the creation of a new segment of the web that will be admired and respected.
Mission:
DID is an acronym for “decentralized identifiers” and that meaning is at the heart of the .did TLD’s mission: to enable people to have a personalized web3 wallet identifier.
Traditional cryptographic wallet addresses (e.g., `0x71C...3a9`) are prone to human error and present a friction point for mainstream web3 onboarding. The .did TLD will solve this by mapping human-readable domain names directly to web3 multi-chain wallet addresses, allowing .did domains to function across native web3 ecosystems and the DNS.
Registrants:
Registrants will be anyone that wants a memorable, personalised identifier for their web3 wallet (e.g. name.did) that functions across web3 ecosystems and the DNS.
Abuse Mitigation:
Verse International takes DNS abuse seriously and will strive to operate a clean space. The registry will implement a robust program for tackling DNS abuse that will include utilizing the abuse detection tools of its RSP and the abuse enforcement services of its partner, Nexusguard.
