1. Mission and purpose: The mission of .atelier is to provide a namespace for craft, design and creative practice, built on the centuries-old word for a maker's workshop. Intended registrants include fashion houses and independent designers; artists, artisans and craftspeople; architecture, jewelry and interior design studios; luxury and premium brands; and creative schools and collectives. Intended users are the clients, collectors and audiences those makers serve worldwide. Following delegation, the applicant will, as registry operator of the .atelier TLD, conduct a phased launch, implement all ICANN-required rights protection mechanisms, and distribute the TLD through ICANN-accredited registrars, supported by marketing and outreach to build awareness and adoption among the intended registrant and user groups. The TLD will be operated under a comprehensive DNS abuse prevention and mitigation framework covering the full range of abuse types, combining proactive and reactive controls. Abuse reports will be investigated and actioned in line with applicable policy requirements. The objective is to maintain .atelier as a high-quality, trusted namespace for registrants and end users. 2. Sustainability: "Atelier" has named creative workshops since at least the eighteenth century and is used untranslated across many languages as a mark of craftsmanship, vocabulary with proven multi-century durability. The creative and luxury sectors it serves are permanent, and demand for craft and design distinction continues to grow.
